A gap in the dessert market encouraged Greek foodie Dean Giannakis to start up a food truck providing a fresh and exciting modern spin on traditional world sourced desserts.
“People love the theatre of us making everything right in front of them, from the dough to using the donut machine by hand and injecting them with toppings.”
St Gerry’s are passionate about being part of the food truck industry, setting up at different locations and meeting new people.
“We love watching people's smiles and happy facial expressions once they take their first bite of our amazing donuts!”
It wasn’t all smooth sailing for St Gerry’s though, with a flour catastrophe at their first ever big event at Federation square.
“My business partner picked up bakers flour instead of plain flour, so our donuts didn't end up rising, and we a huge queue of people that had ordered. My mum ended up running around to every IGA in the CBD buying all the plain flour she could get her hands on!”
It’s pretty safe to say the team have bounced back well, with plans for St Gerry’s to open their first store-front soon.
